Religion and Peace in ASEAN di Selatan Thailand

Tokoh Lintas Agama Dunia Berkumpul di Thailand Selatan: Beberapa tokoh agama lintas negara berkumpul di The Sukosol Hotel (Siam City Hotel), Bangkok and Yala Islamic University Thailand Selatan untuk membahas peran tokoh lintas agama dalam menciptakan perdamaian melalui pendekatan dialog.

Pertemuan yang bertajuk Religion and Peace in ASEAN itu bertujuan untuk menemukan formula agar peran tokoh-tokoh lintas agama dalam mendukung perwujudan ASEAN sebagai komuniti politik, ekonomi, dan budaya tercapai.

Beberapa tokoh agama Indonesia seperti Ketua Umum PP Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin, Hidayat Nur Wahid, serta Sekretaris Eksekutif Konferensi Wali Gereja Indonesia (KWI) Romo Antonius Benny Susetyo menghadiri pertemuan yang berlangsung antara 17 dan 19 September di Bangkok dan Yala Islamic University, Thailand.

"Konferensi ini disponsori oleh Liga Dunia Islam dan Pusat Administrasi Provinsi-Provinsi Selatan Thailand," kata Din Syamsuddin dalam pesan singkatnya kepada Media Indonesia, Selasa (18/9).

Tadi pagi, Din berbicara mengenai perlunya peningkatan dialog antaragama dalam rangka transformasi Konflik di ASEAN.

"Saya menjelaskan pentingnya dialog antaragama dalam rangka perdamaian kawasan, dan pengalaman Muhammadiyah dalam resolusi konflik di Thailand Selatan dan di Filipina Selatan (Muhammadiyah sebagai anggota International Contact Group/ICG untuk peace talk antara Pemerintah Filipina dan MILF)," katanya.

Sementara itu, Romo Benny Susetyo menambahkan, pokok permasalahan yang dibahas adalah pengalaman negara-negara ASEAN dalam menyelesaikan konflik dengan menciptakan pendekatan dialog serta mengembangkan pelatihan untuk perdamaian.

"Pengalaman disadari penting untuk menciptakan dialog dan saling pengertian, agar konflik diatasi dengan mendorong budaya damai. Penting bagi pemimpin agama untuk mengupayakan promosi berdamaian dalam mengatasi konflik," kata Romo Benny mengutip dari Wakil Perdana Menteri Thailand.

Pertemuan itu, kata Romo Benny, memperkaya dan memperkuat kepercayaan diantara masing-masing komuniti lintas agama.

"Kita harus belajar bagaimana mengaktulisasikan agama dan perdamaian dalam bentuk kongkrit untuk menciptakan solidariti kemanusian dan perjumpaan antar pemeluk agama," katanya.

Selain itu, mengampanyekan kultur perdamaian melalui media massa juga penting.

"Harus ada komunikasi harmonis tingkat tokoh agama yang menyentuh akar rumput untuk menciptakan perdamaian sesungguhnya," kata Romo Benny.

Kebijakan pemerintah Thailand mengubah pendekatan dialog dinilai mampu menyelesaikan berbagai masalah antaragama. Peranan pemerintah Thailand melibatkan tokoh agama dan masyarakat sangat terasa dalam mencari resolusi konflik di provinsi Yala Pattani dan Narathiwat, selatan Thailand.

yang mau mendengar dan berdiolog mencari solusi konflik," kata Romo Benny.

Sekjen Liga Muslim Abdullah al Turki menekankan agar agama membawa perdamaian bagi dunia. Ia mengatakan konflik terjadi karena menghargai hal suci dalam agama, misalnya hate speech, menebarkan kebencian. Untuk itu dibutuhkan pendidikan nilai dalam menciptakan nilai perdamaian yang ditanamkan sejak awal.

Religion and Peace in ASEAN dihadiri tokoh-tokoh dari Malaysia, Singapura, Brunei Darusalam, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar serta nega-negara jazirah timur tengah seperti dari Arab Saudi, Turki serta Palestina.
